Opening Ceremony of the National Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition

The competition opened on March 16, 2024, under the patronage of Industry Minister Georges Boushkian, attended by prominent political, academic, economic, and media figures. Ministry representative Charles Dabbas delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the competition's pivotal role in Lebanon's advancement and youth opportunities, praising the participating projects and students' engagement with robotics and AI in line with Industry 4.0.

Dr. Wissam Al-Amil, Head of Intellectual Property Protection at the Ministry of Economy and Trade, stressed the importance of supporting innovative projects and fostering creativity among youth. He called for state policies supporting patent registration and intellectual property protection to stimulate innovation and development in Lebanon.

Participants and Competing Projects:
The Third National Robotics and AI Competition featured broad participation with approximately 600 students from 65 schools, universities, and institutes, presenting 100 innovative projects across four main categories:

1. Universities: 5 universities competed with 6 projects in deep learning, neural networks, industrial/agricultural robotics, autonomous vehicles, and smart security systems.

2. High Schools: 40 schools participated with 49 projects in educational, medical, and agricultural robotics, plus AI applications in language processing, speech recognition, and behavioral pattern analysis.

3. Middle/Elementary Schools: 20 schools competed with 35 projects focusing on interactive robots, educational games, and creative solutions for daily challenges.

4. Technical Institutes/Academies: 3 institutes and 2 academies presented 10 advanced projects in industrial automation, smart homes, IoT, and cybersecurity.

The projects demonstrated remarkable creativity and innovation in concepts, designs, and applications, reflecting growing awareness of robotics and AI among Lebanese youth and their enthusiasm for contributing to Lebanon's technological future.
